Woodthorpe JI School nurtures children to become confident and creative learners. Children are encouraged to meet challenges with enthusiasm and a willingness to solve problems within our inclusive, secure and caring environment. We promote respect for individual differences and community values.
Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow. Meet at 10.30am in St Mary’s church courtyard (around the back), where we will be performing. Unfortunately, due to school closing today, the Dionysus were unable to come in to practice with you. However, you have your music and the backing tracks and tomorrow we will have a quick run through too. Don’t forget your instruments, music and footstool, if you have them and to wear your school uniform.
Parents are welcome to stay but please pick up your child approximately 1.15pm (last performance at 1pm).
Next Saturday, some of our musicians will be performing at the farmers market at St Mary’s churchyard in Moseley. Please come along and support them if you can. See more details in the poster below.
Thank you to all the children for attending the massed ensemble rehearsal. I hope you had a great time and learnt lots. May I also thank parents for escorting and collecting the children to/from the venue and for your continued support. Below are the audio clips Leonie mentioned to help you rehearse at home.

I hope you are looking forward to the performance at the farmer’s market at St Mary’s Churchyard NEXT Saturday.
Our annual KS2 Sports Day is upon us once more. We will once again be holding the morning event at Camp Hill Boys School on Tuesday 21st June 2022. The teachers will walk their classes down to Camp Hill in time for an anticipated start of 10.00am, and then aim to finish by 11:30am. Of course all this will depend on the weather on the day – as long as it’s dry we will go ahead. We will contact you via our Schoolzine app / Twitter in the morning if we decide to postpone the event.
You are more than welcome to join us to support the children at Camp Hill. I have been informed by the school that there is absolutely NO CAR PARKING ON SITE, so you would need to arrive by foot. All children will then be walked back to school for their lunch and afternoon education. Specific instructions regarding which school entrance to use will be shared through class blog sites and Schoolzine at the beginning of next week.
Junior (KS2) Sports Day – Tuesday 21st June 2022 (AM)
Your child will be asked but could you also remind them to try to wear a coloured t-shirt representative of their house for the event. This will make scoring easier. If your child does not own a t-shirt in their house colour, any other item of clothing will be fine e.g. hair band/cap. They should also have applied sun protection if necessary, brought a cap, plenty of fluids and a morning snack.
Please see our breakfast and after-school club provision for Summer Term 2 below. The sessions will run over a 5-week period from Monday 13th June to Friday 15th July 2022. Please see the table below for the information relating to each club. To secure your child’s place within a club you will need to reserve a place through the online booking system provided by Schoolzine, and then pay the balance using Schoolmoney.

You must pay for the session to confirm your child’s place. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to speak to either myself or the school office.
Our ‘Breakfast Clubs’ will also return from this week too. These are free of charge and there is no need to pre-book onto them. Parents/Carers do not need to collect their children at the end of their session, they will be supervised by members of staff from 08:30 onwards.
Congratulations to Year 1 who achieved an attendance % of 98.0% during w/c Monday 16th May 2022. Years 1, 2 and 4 only accrued a single late mark each throughout the same week. (23 in total) #AttendanceMatters ✅📈📅⏰
